The highly anticipated Lollapalooza lineup was released Wednesday, Mar. 22. Headliners include Muse, Lorde, Cage the Elephant, Wiz Khalifa, Blink-182, The Killers, Chance the Rapper, Zeds Dead and others.
Once a long-awaited lineup is revealed, many are quick to jump on the news and elaborate on the headliners and more “well-known” acts. This article does the opposite and sheds light on some of the lesser-known acts.
On the first day of the festival [Thursday, Aug. 3], a Chicago-native rapper, and an indie band from Australia will both be making their Lollapalooza debuts.
Alternative/Indie band Middle Kids, from Sydney, Australia, are among the smaller acts performing on Thursday. The band recently released a self-titled EP and have developed a following on social media. Check out their sound here.
At just 19-years-old, Kweku Collins will be making his Lolla debut. Collins is a rapper from Evanston, Illinois, and released his first full-length album, Nat Love, last April. Check out his music here and show the Chicago-native some love on day one of Lolla.
On Friday, Aug. 4, be sure not to miss Missio and Slothrust.
Missio, an Alternative/Electronic duo from Texas, will take the stage on Friday. They are currently touring around the U.S. and making their way through the festival circuit. Their music can be heard by following this link.
Hailing from Boston, MA., Slothrust, a Rock/Grunge trio have released three albums and are currently on a nationwide tour. Their unique sound can be heard by visiting their SoundCloud page.
For the third day of the festival [Aug. 5], lesser-known acts Lady Pills and Flint Eastwood will be performing.
Quoted in the description on their band Facebook page as “Sad music you can dance to”, Rock group Lady Pills will make their Lolla debut on Saturday. The group is from Boston, MA., and has released one album titled, Despite.
Pop artist, Flint Eastwood, is one of the smaller acts that will be performing Saturday. She is originally from Detroit, MI., but is currently on a nationwide tour. Lollapalooza will be her fourth festival performance of the summer. Flint Eastwood’s music can be heard here.
On the last day of Lolla [Aug. 6], be sure to check out Duckwrth and Flor.
Duckwrth, a Hip-Hop artist and Rapper from Los Angeles, CA., is making his Lolla debut on Sunday. He recently released a music video for “I’m Dead” off his EP, I’M UUGLY. Duckwrth combines hip-hop beats and thought-provoking rap lyrics to create tracks which are sure to make an impact on the crowd at Lollapalooza.
Also from California is Indie-Pop band, Flor. Their debut album, come out. you’re hiding, will be released May 19, which gives fans plenty of time to listen to them before their Lollapalooza debut. Give their EP, Sounds, a listen.
Whether this is your first Lollapalooza, or your twentieth, try to catch a set of an act you may not normally go to. Who knows, it could end up being a new favorite to listen to.
